I can’t even begin to elaborate how many times in my life my will was done. I was the one leading the way, with my head in the sky and one leg in front of the other. I was attached to what I now call the “mythology”. A false story of a boy who taught he knew the world like the back of his hands. I was leading with pride and my followers where all the demons I had encounter along the way, or so I thought. But in reality I was not leading, my head was not even pass my knees, my feet went in every direction and the only light I saw was the one I had been passing by, all the mentors and leaders that God had placed in my life.
To put it in simple terms if you was to WIKI my name this is what would have had shown up at the time: Prideful, self-righteous, and Self-Center and the list goes on and on, and on.
John 15:1-8
Then Jesus said, “I am the true vine, and my Father takes care of the vineyard. He removes every one of my branches that doesn’t produce fruit. He also prunes every branch that does produce fruit to make it produce more fruit.
“You are already clean because of what I have told you. Live in me, and I will live in you. A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me.
“I am the vine. You are the branches. Those who live in me while I live in them will produce a lot of fruit. But you can’t produce anything without me. Whoever doesn’t live in me is thrown away like a branch and dries up. Branches like this are gathered, thrown into a fire, and burned. If you live in me and what I say lives in you, then ask for anything you want, and it will be yours. You give glory to my Father when you produce a lot of fruit and therefore show that you are my disciples.
My question to you becomes, when you look in the mirror is that you staring back? Or is that a mythology? A person who lives to defy the laws of God, and believes that he/she is greater the He.
Looking back at where I was and where I am just allows me to see how much work God has put into me, and all I had to do was to open my eyes and recognize that He is the Great I Am, that He is the Glory, that He is the true Vine.
Have you turned your back on your mentors, accountability partners, and leaders who have a desire to see you grow in life? Don’t be mesmerized by the things of this world that only bring death into your heart. Instead get connected to the body of Christ so your fruits may be fruitful and multiply.
I’ll leave you with this to think about.
I invite you to reflect on the conditions that Jesus asked of those who wanted to be his disciples: "If anyone wishes to come after me", he said, "he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me" (Lk 9:23).
Are you connected to the Vine?
